Applying to college is obviously a new experience for all high school students and many underestimate the difficulty and importance of the application process. Section 4 guides your son or daughter through the basics that all students must be aware of.

Students with disabilities have additional considerations when making application to college. For example they should:

  • Research and meet with a representative in the disability services office.
  • Follow the specific procedures for admission and placement test accommodations.
  • Plan for extra time to complete applications and essays.
  • Learn about financial aid opportunities.

By working through the Planning for College Guidance Activities starting in the Junior year, your son or daughter should not have any unpleasant last-minute surprises.
