In addition to the stress of taking an admission or pre-admission test, students with disabilities must address the issue of testing accommodations. Eligibility, documentation, procedures and timelines need to be considered when applying for accommodations. The two major testing companies (ACT and the College Board) have different procedures and requirements. Become familiar with these procedures. Deadlines for submitting this paperwork are much earlier than the application deadline to take the test.

The SAT is administered through the College Board, http://www.collegeboard.com The College Board is a national nonprofit membership association whose mission is to prepare, inspire, and connect students to college success and opportunity.

ACT is an independent, not-for-profit organization that provides more than a hundred assessment, research, information, and program management services in the broad areas of education and workforce development. http://www.act.org
