Section 1

The first section of the Post-ITT Guidance Activities focuses on self-advocacy skills. We suggest that it be introduced in the ninth grade. Learning to advocate for one's needs takes time! Start as early as possible working with your son or daughter to develop these skills. The Activities should be practiced each semester. Planning will occur at the annual review of the IEP.

The goal:

Your son or daughter will understand his/her disability, learning strengths and related accommodations and have the skill to ask for what he or she needs in an academic setting.
