The Planning Worksheet will help you determine where to begin with the Post-ITT Guidance Activities. The Worksheet asks you, your son or daughter, and the teacher to make ratings on a three point scale. Here are the statements for the Self Advocacy section.

Your son or daughter can identify:

  • His/her disability (What is it? How does it affect the student in class?).

  • Learning strengths (How does the student learn best?).

  • Appropriate accommodations based on disability & learning strengths.

  • How his/her disability documentation supports specific accommodation.

  • How to practice self-advocacy in the high school setting.

To help you prepare for the next IEP meeting, complete the Self-Advocacy Section of the Planning Worksheet. Following your rating of each question, there is room to record your questions, concerns or thoughts, for discussion at the meeting. Copy and take with you to the meeting. Even if you are not meeting with school staff, complete the rating form to help you decide where to start with Post-ITT Guidance Activities.
