OverviewStudents complete the necessary steps to apply and be admitted to a college of interest. This set of activities is designed to be started in the their junior year and continue through admission to a postsecondary institution. Because so many who say they want to go to college don't actually take the action steps required to realize that intention, these activities focus on understanding the process and the organization skills. GoalsStudents will:
RationaleStudents may underestimate the importance or become overwhelmed by the details of applying to college. By breaking down the application process, they become aware of college entrance expectations. Referring students to career and counseling services will increase their awareness. By incorporating these activities into your curriculum you communicate that you expect your students to follow through with their stated intention and that you take their aspiration seriously. Start Section 4 in September or October of their junior year to meet test deadlines.
