Building a Team

How do these Activities overlap with what your school counselors, psychologists, or others are already doing or want to do? As you look through the Guidance Activities for the first time, consider who else in your school should be involved with the students.
  • Guidance Counselors -- How might you work together to support students?

  • Career Center Information Specialist -- What is their role and how does it overlap with Post-ITT Activities?

  • Assistive technology specialists -- Sections 1, 2, and 5 provide opportunities to consider the role of technology as an academic adjustment. Do you have local experts in your district? Educational cooperative? State resources?

  • Section 504 plan Service Coordinators -- Maybe you coordinate the services for those eligible under Section 504. If not, you might want to team up with the individual who does.

  • Your colleagues in the special education department -- Sometimes we evolve our roles into subspecialties such as special education reading expert, math expert, or transition specialist. We encourage you to find ways to cross over these specialty areas so that as many people as possible are engaged in support students using these Activities.
