Self Advocacy

Self-advocacy is essential to success in college because in college disability services will only be provided to those who identify themselves and request reasonable accommodations. The responsibility for success falls on the student.

This section begins the process of learning about and accepting this responsibility with the goal of the students understanding their learning strengths, disability, and related accommodations. We recommend introduction of these nine activities in the first year of high school. Revisit the concepts throughout the high school years.
